Common questions
Frequently asked questions
A few things our Cranbourne patients ask us most often. Can't find what you need? Just give us a call.
I get nervous at the dentist - will that be a problem?
Not at all, and you're far from alone. Our team takes the time to explain each step, works gently, and is happy to go at whatever pace helps you feel comfortable. Just let us know about your nerves when you book and we'll make sure you're well looked after.
What should we expect at our child's first visit?
A relaxed, friendly introduction to the dentist - nothing scary. Our team takes extra care to make a child's first appointment a positive one, so they grow up comfortable with dental visits rather than fearing them. Feel free to bring them along to your own appointment first so they can see what it's all about before their own visit.
What is CDBS and do you bulk bill it?
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a Medicare program that provides eligible children aged 0–17 with access to basic dental services. We generally bulk bill CDBS for eligible children, so there's usually no out-of-pocket cost for covered treatment. In some cases a child's CDBS allocation may already be used up, in which case out-of-pocket costs can apply. Bring your Medicare card along and our front desk team can check your child's eligibility and remaining allocation for you.
Do you accept VEDS or VGDS vouchers?
Yes, we accept Victorian Emergency Dental Scheme (VEDS) and Victorian General Dental Scheme (VGDS) vouchers. A co-payment applies on top of the voucher amount, which our team can explain to you before treatment so there are no surprises.
Are you a preferred provider with my health fund?
No, and that's a deliberate choice. Staying independent of preferred provider agreements means every treatment plan is built entirely around what's right for you, not around conditions or restrictions set by an insurer. You can still claim your private health fund benefits with HICAPS on the spot, the same as anywhere else.
What payment methods do you accept?
We have both HICAPS and EFTPOS available, so you can claim your private health fund benefits on the spot or pay by card. Payment is required on the day treatment is provided.
Can I just walk in without an appointment?
We're an appointment-only practice, so we're not able to see walk-ins. This helps us give every patient our full attention and keep waiting times down. Give us a call and we'll find a time that suits you.
What are your opening hours?
We're open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. Saturday appointments are available on request. We're closed on Sundays. See our contact page for full details and directions to the clinic.
Do you offer emergency dental appointments?
Yes, we do our best to fit dental emergencies in during our normal operating hours. Extenuating circumstances - such as our dentists being in the middle of ongoing surgeries or procedures - can sometimes mean we're unable to see you straight away. Please call ahead and let us know about your emergency before coming in, rather than arriving unannounced; the clinic will always triage the case and let you know the best way forward.
